Project Overview
The EDIDA Resources page was developed to bring together institutional information, initiatives, resources, research highlights, and related content within a clear and accessible digital experience.
My work focused on the page's visual structure and functionality, translating stakeholder requirements into a responsive layout while supporting accessibility, consistency, and ease of future updates.
The Challenge
With no existing EDIDA Resources page or navigation structure to build upon, the project required creating a new digital destination that could organize multiple areas of EDIDA content clearly and intuitively while fitting within UBC’s established web environment.
A key technical challenge was developing the six-section navigation with precise stakeholder-defined spacing and alignment while ensuring responsive behaviour across desktop and mobile devices.
My Role
As Web & Communications Coordinator, I built the EDIDA Resources web page from the ground up, developing its content structure, visual layout, and navigation within UBC’s existing web environment. I used custom HTML and CSS to create the responsive six-section navigation and worked closely with stakeholders, IT, and web developers to implement more advanced functionality and ensure the page was accessible, scalable, and aligned with institutional requirements.
Content & Accessibility
The page included important institutional content such as the Land Acknowledgement, which required careful attention to readability, formatting, and culturally sensitive presentation. I worked with stakeholders to ensure the content presentation aligned with institutional expectations and accessibility considerations.
Custom Navigation
To organize the site's EDIDA content visually, I developed a six-button layout using custom HTML and CSS. Precise spacing and alignment were implemented according to stakeholder requirements while maintaining responsive behaviour across screen sizes.
Scalable Functionality
I designed the page structure with future growth in mind, creating a navigation system that could accommodate additional EDIDA content as the resource expanded. New navigation items could be added without manually rebuilding the layout, with existing items repositioning automatically to maintain a consistent visual structure.
I collaborated with IT and web developers to implement this dynamic behaviour and ensure the solution remained scalable and easy to maintain.
Research Highlights
The EDIDA digital experience also included dedicated content areas such as Research Highlights, creating visual entry points to research and related resources while maintaining consistency with the broader UBC web environment.
Collaboration & Outcome
I worked closely with stakeholders, IT, and web developers to implement the required functionality and refine the final experience. The resulting solution met the project's visual and functional requirements while providing a scalable structure that could accommodate future updates without compromising layout consistency.
